Thirteenth Crushed Sunday Memusetica

Is this unlucky? Thirteenth?
Well, it's not a Friday, is it?

Anyway, courtesy of Judd, here we go.

1. What is the bravest thing that you feel you've ever done physically? Phyically, I'm actually quite plucky. In spite of my fairly insubstantial form. So yes, I have often faced off people about twice my size. In many ways, I'm actually quite physically fearless.

2. What is the bravest thing that you feel you've ever done emotionally? Here I'm actually not so brave. To be honest, I'm quite damaged on this front. I suppress most of my emotions most of the time. So bravest? The occassions when I've been able to suspend the urge to repress.

3. What one talent do you wish you had that you don't? I wish I could sing in key. My voice is good otherwise. Just I'm tone deaf.

4. If you had that talent what would you be doing with it? Well, I'm too old now, but I reckon I'd have been perfect rock star material. :)

5. We all have our reasons for blogging but what would be your ultimate goal for your blog or as a blogger? I'd like it to be known globally. :)

6. What advice would you give a new blogger? Always put your readers first. And always preserve the integrity of the medium. Treat it as a working environment as far as possible. It's not a chatroom.

7. Who are you three favorite blogs to visit (Yes, you can have ties and name more than three.) I've decided I'm not going to answer that. The question is too vague. Generally, if it's linked on my sidebar, there's a good reason. One reads different blogs for different reasons. Three arbitrarily chosen blogs is too wide a remit.

8. You can trade lives with any one person for a month. Who would it be and why? The Pope. I always wanted to be Pope. Why? Let's just say Vatican III would bring about some VERY radical changes...

9. There's a fire and your family is safe but you have the chance to save any one item from your house. What would it be and why? Could I rescue this PC? Possibly. It's a flat screen.

10. You have the chance to go back in time and warn yourself before making a bad choice. What choice would it be and what would you tell yourself? Do not call that woman. You'll regret it in three months and then for every day after that till the day you die.

I like your advice to bloggers. I think about it much in the same way.

We were watching the Posiedon adventure last night and I was telling Lana, I'm brave in some circumstances but I wouldn't be brave if I were about to drown.

(1) Interesting. I'm a big, powerful guy, who was often attacked by much smaller guys after they've had a bit too much to drink (you know how some guys are--they get a little in the tank and they reckon they can take on the biggest, baddest mf in the place; and often that's me). Usually, it doesn't take much to calm them down. But I have had this tremendous fear that I might hurt one of these guys seriously, or perhaps even give one or two a case of the measles.

(2) More interesting. Do you feel that you have repressed, or do you have more the feeling that you would like to repress.

(3) You can learn ear-training. I used to teach that to adults for money. It's a skill that virtually anyone can learn.

(4) I can see you as a rock star. Were you born twenty years earlier, you would have probably fit right in with the UK punk scene.

(5) Good luck.

(6) Can't argue with that.

(7) Smart answer (loaded question; one should never ask a blogger that).

(8) Perhaps one day you'll get lucky and be able to do what Rodrigo Borgia (Pope Alexander VI) did: purchase the papacy outright. You'll need the guys at Hill Knowlton (or any other big-name firm) to smooth over public perception. But once that's done, you have infallible carte blanche to make the changes you desire.

Then again, be careful. One of the first acts Albino Lucianno did as John Paul I was order an audit on the Vatican Bank. That would also became one of the last acts of Albino Lucianno as John Paul I.

(9) I'd go straight for the computer too.

(10) By "that woman," do you mean Monica Lewinsky?

You are wrong. You are brave. This blog and the way you stand up for your (sometimes I think outrageous, but I always respect them...) opinions is very brave. So, I think you are a brave dude, dude...

I agree with Bud. It does take bravery to write fearlessly.

Yeah, I wanted to be the rock star too.

I think you'ld make an excellent Pope. And you'ld look great in the hat too.

Charles- It's hard always reminding people those boundaries are there. It does raise issues, I think, this being a new medium.

These things aren't a problem, if people are sensible. It's just remembering that this is a public forum. And one should behave accordingly.

Drowning I think is probably very scary. I think you would panic naturally, it's a natural impulse. Whereas facing a firing squad would be different.

X-Dell- I think it's just I'm quite adrenalin driven. It kicks in quite powerfully with me. I don't ever go looking for trouble but on the odd occasions it's come to me and there's been a stand off, it really has come down to staring down incidents. That and territory. I think if you position yourself so you're looking them in the eye and they can see that your hand will reach their throat before their fist can reach your face, then, the situation will diffuse. Personal experience.
It's kept me out of actual fights for a good ten years :)

I think I can often disconnect from situations I find stressful and really just shut down. Generally, if I go through something traumatic, I don't want to talk about it. I'll bottle it up. I do tend to put barriers up and aren't comfortable taking them down.

Little example. I hear many people say 'I love you, Mum'. No way I'd be able to say that, ever. I never have said it, and never will. Whether I do or not, isn't the issue. I wouldn't be able to say it.

Well, it would be worth a try :)

More a New romantic, I feel. Though, yes Punk does kind of appeal to me. In the daus when I used to write song lyrics a lot of it was kind of Punk-ish, the stuff that wasn't more Grunge, or Radiohead style.

It's the being infallible bit I like the idea of. The fact that I really would be able to decide that God decided mankind was ready for free Love and Communism...

I thought Innocent XIV would be a good title...

Was JP I murdered? I don't know about that one. To be honest, the one that interests me is the rumour that Cardinal Siri was elected Pope in 58, but they had to persuade him to resign straight away.

No, it was Roseanne Arnold...

Bud- I guess. To me that's a bit like physical courage though. I've never had a problem with public speaking or any of that. I enjoy all that sort of thing. I suppose I'm usually quite forthright in what I say, and that does surprise people sometimes.

But I do usually walk away from emotionally demanding situations.

In matters of the heart, I tend to just take the easy choices, I'm afraid.

Mimi-
I guess I've never thought of it that way, but thanks for saying that, I do appreciate it from both of you.

Deana- It would be fun, wouldn't it?
Thing is, I'd probably be dead by now if I had been one.

Gingatao- I think so. It would be a controversial papacy, but one which certainly bring the Church to the middle of the twenty first century. A force of the future, not the past.

I think more interesting dresses are needed. If I have to wear a dress, I want one with a bit more perzazz. Maybe I'll make Rihanna a Cardinal.

I, too, wish I had a singing voice that didn't sound like a cat in heat. Oh, well, if wishes were fishes, we'd all have tuna casserole. LOL!
