This Really Is The Way

This is all I really weant to say tonight.
You don't have to be religous to get it.
It's what life is about. Life just is better if people try to live this way.
It will be better for all of us when we all do.
What's wrong with starting today?

This is what the greatest guy of them all has to say;

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Well who said that then? Is it from a movie?

Ha ha ha...at Mutley's comment!

Wise words...even if your not religious!

How have you been?

frank's prayer comes to mind, "... to comfort rather than be comforted, to understand then to be understood, to love rather than be loved.." what an awesome prayer. God bless, ingy.

Part of this I can agree with. But I'm afraid I could never just let everyone walk all over me and take advantage of me nor watch them do it to others. Sometimes you just have to make a stand, although not with violence.

Amen to that.

You are cute Betty - may I hug your boobs?

Mutley,
Try hedonism. It's better than virtual boob hugging. That's
Hedonism UK (google, my friends).....Britain's premier, upmarket club for swinging and uninhibited sex.Venues now include
Bridport. And just about everywhere else in the UK.
Ya know,I thought I recognised you from somewhere, Mutley...

Well, CBI, as you know, I'm supposed to be one of this fellow's fans as well.

Isn't there a post-punk track called "That's the Way" and very fine it is too, or would be, if it were real.

Yer man here is fine also, but I can just see him shaking his head and doing little wanker signs at us; I'm sure we still haven't worked it out, I mean properly.

Have you seen Last Temptation, CBI? I'm a sucker for all that "wow this story is so stupid it must be true" rhetoric and of course the Peter Gabriel music, which seems to me to say the same thing.

Anyone else have that feeling? That the saviour of mankind thinks you're a bit rubbish? I can't help thinking he's hanging out on Zeta Reticuli and being chuffed at making such a good job of them....

The best way to live - but not easy. But there again, he never said it was.

There are worse ways to go ... I feel it worth the risk...

Mutley- I think this particular bit can be found in many movies, personally my favorite is still Jesus of Nazareth with Robert Powell in the title role, he conveys very much the Jesus I see.

Jenny- I think they are wise words, if I'm honest I guess Christianity to me isn't really a religion, it's more of an ideology- I think the universe came alive in this guy, that he simply saw it all worked.

I've been better, but I think we're out of the woods now. I probably should be blogging normally again by middle of next week. Thanks for being so supportive.

Raffi- You're right, that truly is a good sentiment. It's also actually more rewarding. I think it is possible to win people over by loving them and trying to understand them- but more important, you should never give up even when its thrown back in your face.

jmb- Make a stand yes. I don't think 'turn the other cheek' means be a doormat, I think its deeper than that, I think it refers to passive resistance.
It's about turning the other cheek and letting them vent their hate on you, while you show them the strength of your love for them.

Betty- It took me a long time to really get my head round this, I probably only really got it in the last few years.
Its not easy, and we can't always live up to it, but if we don't try, then humanity will disappear in a series of mushroom clouds.
And we've had 2,000 years to get ours heads round it.

Mutley- Wouldn't you be better off nestling between them?

Stan- Are you the Marketing Manager for this club?
I will google it, the concept of a swing scene that isn't- well, sleazy- is something that does intrigue me. The americans seem to be able to it, but the Europeans don't. Odd that, really.
And in this country the swing scene up to now, has always been pretty sleazy.

TD- The Last Temptation is one of those films I still ponder about watching.

It's interesting to consider how far he has succeeded, I don't think we always appreciate how much he HAS changed the world. Back then everything he said really was radical, but it seems less so now because our culture, though it has become agnostic takes much of his values as being correct. Ultimately, we now all recognise that there are no better ethics than his- even if we are lame at living up to them.

That's a start, surely?

Welshcakes- It is not easy at all- or not with our current way of thinking.
But get rid of concepts like property and possession and it becomes easier, I think.

I think it is all about Love, it is about loving every human unconditionally, whereas now we are acclimatised to love a handful conditionally.

JMB - you've got it bad.

Kudos on standing up for your faith... I'd like to do the same thing... have lately decided to stop all the sex stuff and start being good...

James- Am I missing something here?

Eve- I have abolutely no idea why people think sexually repressing themselves is the will of God.

Sex without Love is what is wrong, but in my view that means we need to Love more, not have sex less.
Free Love to me, means just that, Love Freed.
