Music Shopping Spree

I apologise for two music based posts in a row.
But myself and a female acquintance went on a shopping spree to Cheltenham today, which involved a trip to HMV for me. Kind of a hobby for me.
Sales were on, so a lot of good bargains.
First, it should be mentioned that I had tried to 'educate' the girl in qeustion in quality dance music in the car on the way down; Reactivate 16. (2000)Not the best of the collection- that has to be 14 (1999) , which I lent to The Baker and is still lent.
I was trying to get her to see the pure sense of adrenalin, the total liberation, that you get from good dance Music.
She's not ever been in to the hard dance culture, so I tried to explain to her the sense of euphoria of dancing on a stage in a club that's just about white T-shirts, glowsticks and the sense of energy- and emotion- that this music gives.
A room full of love, where there is a sense that the crap we have to put up with in the world out there is not all it's about.

Anyway here is a list of the CDs I bought. You have to guess which one was hers.

The Beatles- Yellow Submarine.
Tubular Bells- Mike Oldfield.
Kaiser Chiefs- Yours Truly, Angry Mob.
Kasabian- Empire.
Pulp- Different Class.
Skunk Anansi- Paranoid and Sunburnt.
Ultravox- The Collection.
ABC- The Lexicon of Love.
Radiohead- Hail to the Thief.
The Stone Roses- The Stone Roses.
The Doors- Morrison Hotel.
Duran Duran- Rio
Japan- Adolescent Sex.
Daft Punk- Human after All.
Cascada- Everytime you Touch.
David Bowie- Aladdin Sane.
Dire Straits- Brothers in Arms.
Orbital- The Altogether.
Armin van Buuren- 10 years.
The Best of Bonkers.
Hed Kandi Classics.
Gatecrasher Live in Moscow.

One of those CDs is NOT one I would voluntarily listen to. Can you spot it?

first of all, I can't believe you didn't already own The Stone Roses!

I'm guessing the Skunk Anansi was hers.

And Brothers in Arms is one of the all time great cheesy anthems. Does that have Sultans of Swing on too .. another top tune.

Not that album, I didn't. Remiss of me.
No it dosn't have Sultans of swing, but I have that on their greatest hits alread.

Your guess: No cigar, I'm afraid.

This particular Skunk Anansi album probably has their best stuff on it. Not up there in my top forty albums, but still of some alternative music significance.

I don't know all of that music thus I am ill equipped to guess.

Plus I'll look like a fool if I tried.

do you live in my part of the world then CBI?

I'm from the Birmingham area, Tin Drummer. Days out shopping (If you're bored of Brum) are a toss up between Merry Hell and Cheltenham.
No guesses on the album front then, TD?

I'm guessing the Beatles was hers.

Nope. Been slowly to trying to acquire all their albums overtime, even their lamer efforts. I'm quite into John Lennon. I have probably their albums by now, plus much of Lennon's post-Beatles stuff.
Think McCartney was a publicity milking hanger on.
Clue; It's cheap and nasty.

Ah....Adolescent Sex? I know you know some Japan lyrics but they seem a bit effete for you - Ms CBI's surely.

Nope. Come on peops, it's staring you in the face.
TD,I already have two Japan albums and a Japan Best of type CD. My conversatio with yourself reminded me to look for some more.

Wow.. I haven't even heard of most of these..

I'll guess Duran Duran. (BTW, I kind of like that song...)

Incidentally, I just want to add that while dance culture can be cathartic and enjoyable, it's not a philosophy I'd want to center my life around... there are too many pitfalls. The sensation of love is fleeting and drug abuse is forever-- or at least, it turned out to be in the cases of many of my former friends. Personally, I found that coming to terms with the world was a better route than escaping it.

Right, people.
It was the cheap tacky europop Cascada CD.

No winners from this group, then.
I read the list out to work colleague and they spotted it straight away.
Ruthie, I'd agree, not a philospohy in itself, but perhaps it has a good place in a rewarding life philosophy.
Don't get mr wrong; there are times when I have been overamoured wuith some of the props...

I am a huge Beatles fan and agree with you about Paul. I read somewhere that his mother was a nurse who died young of breat cancer. He was still a kid about 8-10 years old and the first thing he said upon hearing of her death was what will we do without her money coming in? Prick! I loved John but George was always my favorite!Dire Straits kicks major ass!Especially that album. Love the Elvis song and Heavy heavy Fuel!!
