An Anthem For Crushed by Ingsoc

David Anthony asked recently what song would sum up this blog. I pondered.
Obviously, there was a certain inevitability, I would choose something by Depeche Mode. I suppose this is the obvious choice, both in terms of lyrics, but also for another reason.
Friends have often joked that one of the reasons I love this band is due to a slight superficial ressemblence by myself to David Gahan. At the time this video was made, then they have a point. He would also be about my age at this time.
So for those who say I never give you any personal info...

Good song choice.

I have a thing for the 80's, especially Brit bands. Spandau Ballet, Yazoo, Soft Cell, OMD, The Human League and of course Depeche Mode. Some of my favorite songs are, Blasphemous Rumours, New Life, Just Can't Get Enough, Everything Counts, Death's Door, just to name a few.

Oh come on! Move into the 21st Century will you?

Hmm, seems a bit downbeat to be an anthem. I thought you would go with 'Just can't get enough'

Alexys- I'm quite an eighties music person. Violator is my fave Depeche album, though I have them all, likewise Human Leahue. Do you rate Heaven 17?

Welshcakes- That's me!!!!

Mutley- Great Music is timeless, as is Whackty Races, which I shall post tomorrow...

David- One of the few Depeche Mode tracks I despise, because it understates their brilliance, way beneath their standards. Everything Counts was my other choice. I'll post that as well soon.

I love "Melt with You' by Modern English? I think thats the name of the band, not sure.

Cure covered it, but its one of my fave tracks.

Heaven 17 for sure, not to mention Ultravox, Erasure, ABC. So many bands, so little time.....
